There are many reasons for a website such as this. The first, and probably the most important reason, is to educate the youth of today on the issues that have faced past generations. Everyone learns about the horrors of the Holocaust in school through video documentaries and textbooks. As great as textbooks are, they do not do justice to the extremities of the event. Over six million lives were lost in the matter of just a few years, and with that, an entire people and religion were almost destroyed. Those who were lucky to escape from Europe and survive, by either hiding or some other form of survival, have incredible life experiences that are buried deep within their minds. Unfortunately, the number of survivors still with us is growing thinner and thinner every year. This reduction is the main reason this site was created. In just a few years, there will be no more survivors walking this earth with us. There will be no more people to tell their unique stories with the world. My goal is to talk with survivors and record their stories before it is too late, so that their life and their stories will be able to be shared with generations long after they have passed away. Learning from a textbook can only get you so far, but having the opportunity to listen to and learn from a survivor can change one's world completely. So I ask you, please look through the different stories on this website and appreciate what these survivors went through. Learn from their experiences so that our world becomes more educated today. Because as we become more educated and never forget about horrors of the Holocaust, we continually get closer and closer from stopping something like this from ever happening again.
